Design Competition: Love Your Body Poster Contest, Sketches
Love Your Body Poster Contest
Deadline: December 2, 2013
http://www.graphiccompetitions.com/jump.php?contest=love-your-body-2014-poster-contest
The Love Your Body Poster Contest is part of a campaign that helps spread the word of the confining beauty ideals that women and girls face everyday. The message that poster design should relay is embracing all people regardless of size, age, ethnicity etc.
A 9x12 hard copy of the poster must be postmarked by December 2, 2013. If selected as a category winner a digital file will be requested. It is encouraged that all designers review past entries and winners to familiarize oneself about the campaign.
One poster will be selected as the grand prize winner* to serve as the official 2014 Love Your Body Campaign poster and will be featured on the NOW Foundation web site.
The software/s I plan on using to design the poster are Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I feel that using vector images are easier to reproduce.
I first decided to write down all the thoughts that came to mind about loving your body. What stood out the most to me was the fact that we are all unique in our very own way. An idea that came to mind was a puzzle because I felt that women are often objectified especially based on body parts. I felt that it would be a powerful message to have a female body covered in puzzle pieces with the statement, " Every Piece Counts". If a piece of a puzzle is missing, it feels incomplete. I feel that women feel the same way if a piece of them is acknowledged more than another.
Another I idea I thought about was that there are items in the consumer world in which I have always been frustrated with, especially the "one size fits all" descriptions. It's impossible! One idea I have is featuring a belt and in large font stating, Myth: One Size Fits All, Fact: Impossible.

Flash Animation Project: Preliminary Thoughts
The title of my animation project is Texting and Driving Across America. Texting and driving is one of the America's fastest growing and top killers. Many drivers have convinced themselves that they are able to text and drive . In this Flash Animation Project, I plan on creating an animation in which explains: What texting while driving causes and how it can effect peoples lives permanently. The target audience for this project is based for a broad demographic audience. The intended goal is for the audience to have a real understanding in the seriousness of texting while driving.
