Texting Across America: Flash Final

Here is the final animation for Texting and Driving Across America I made using CS6 Adobe Flash. I still have a couple of things to edit but if I have time before the deadline I will attempt to fix it up.   I did have sound right from the start of the animation , but when I exported it, about 3 seconds of sound are missing from the beginning, right before the crash of glass.
I really enjoyed creating this animation, I hope it portrays the serious and dramatic effect texting while driving can be. With that being said I used very cinematic/dramatic sounds from freesound.org to add to the effect of the animation. Many of my graphics for the animation were made in Adobe Illustrator as other graphics were made right in Adobe Flash.

Design Competition: Love Your Body Poster Contest, Sketches

Love Your Body Poster Contest
Deadline: December 2, 2013
http://www.graphiccompetitions.com/jump.php?contest=love-your-body-2014-poster-contest

The Love Your Body Poster Contest is part of  a campaign that helps spread the word of the confining beauty ideals that women and girls face everyday. The message that poster design should relay is embracing all people regardless of size, age, ethnicity etc.

A 9x12 hard copy of the poster must be postmarked by December 2, 2013. If selected as a category winner a digital file will be requested. It is encouraged that all designers review past entries and winners to familiarize oneself about the campaign.

One poster will be selected as the grand prize winner* to serve as the official 2014 Love Your Body Campaign poster and will be featured on the NOW Foundation web site.

The software/s I plan on using to design the poster are Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.  I feel that using vector images are easier to reproduce.

I first decided to write down all the thoughts that came to mind about loving your body.  What stood out the most to me was the fact that we are all unique in our very own way. An idea that came to mind was a puzzle because I felt that women are often objectified especially based on body parts.  I felt that it would be a powerful message to have a female body covered in puzzle pieces with the statement, " Every Piece Counts". If a piece of a puzzle is missing, it feels incomplete.  I feel that women feel the same way if a piece of them is acknowledged more than another.
Another I idea I thought about was that there are items in the consumer world in which I have always been frustrated with, especially the "one size fits all" descriptions.  It's impossible!  One idea I have is featuring a belt and in large font stating,  Myth: One Size Fits All, Fact: Impossible.

Flash Animation Project: Preliminary Thoughts

The title of my animation project is Texting and Driving Across America. Texting and driving is one of the America's fastest growing and top killers.  Many drivers have convinced themselves that they are able to text and drive .  In this Flash Animation Project, I plan on creating an animation in which explains: What texting while driving causes and how it can effect peoples lives permanently.  The target audience for this project is based for a broad demographic audience.  The intended goal is for the audience to have a real understanding in the seriousness of texting while driving.

Photography Portfolio Website

I decided to make a website primarily based on my photography.  I am still trying to decide what colors to go with and am planning on tweaking my concept more. Here are some sample drawings I have made.

Final Magazine Cover and Double-Page Spread Design

Here is my final design for the Digital Arts Magazine design. I chose to call my cover the "Art of Typography" due to the dynamic interconnection between type and design. I wanted to express my design with an eclectic and symmetrical style that defines the Art Deco style. Art Deco theaters became popular during the 1930's (wikipedia). I also wanted to incorporate the high use spot lights highly used during that time period.  The double-page spread also has a design based on type.   I felt the need to create a relationship between the Art Deco cover and the spread in order to maintain the balance needed for design.  The article included in the spread explains the design process for the photograph provided on the spread.

Magazine Cover and Spread for Digital Arts

I really enjoyed brainstorming about different design concepts for this Magazine Cover and Spread Project.  I decided to focus on the art of typography because I feel typography is a essential way to communicate any concept.  With my magazine spread I plan to focus on photography portraits and text effects intertwined into one. I decided that I wanted to go with Design #4 to emphasis typography and its effects on design. Below the magazine I included the double-page spread sample in hopes of keeping with Typography, Art Deco theme.

Photography Artist Statement

As a photographer I enjoy trying to manipulate time and inspire the viewer to ponder the result.  I have found that I am inspired by the light and dark tones that lay in the crevices of the subjects.  Along with my passion for photography, I also have a great interest in vintage objects.  In this series of photographs I have attempted to undress the subject to its raw form enveloped in honesty.  I have found that revealing and concealing parts of a subject creates an unexpected extraction of time.  Photographing the complexity or simplicity of the subject, using the power of tone, shadow, and light, makes me feel as if I have found a way to recreate the events that have taken place.
